Pugs originated in Asia before 400 BC. The Pug was a pet at Tibetan monasteries and later traveled to Japan. The Pug then came to Europe, where the endearing little dog was the pet of royalty in several countries. It became a fashion adornment of the European Courts in the 16th century, reaching its popularity peak in Victorian times.
The Pug has a square, thick, stocky compact, body, with a sleek, soft coat that comes in apricot, fawn, black and silver with a short, flat, black muzzle and velvety rose-shaped ears. The eyes are large, dark and expressive. The teeth should meet in a slightly undershot bite. Their tail is tightly curled. Their legs are short and straight. They walk with a bulldog waddle.
A Pug is perky, effervescent, loyal, and affectionate with a happy disposition. They are playful, charming and clever with a great personality.
