Compact, powerful with a shiny, close-fitting coat the Boxer comes in fawn, brindle, white, various shades of red all with white markings. The tail is cut short and the ears can be cropped. Its lower jaw extends beyond its upper one, curving upward, like a bulldog but with no teeth showing. The black nose is large with open nostrils.
The Boxer is a happy, high-spirited, playful, curious, energetic and athletic dog. Highly intelligent, loyal, affectionate and eager to learn, they can be easily taught tricks. They constantly follow you around to see what you're doing. They get along famously with children and other household pets. The name Boxer came from the way the Boxer likes to use its front paws to play with you and his toys like a cat. The Boxer's guard-dog nature is to protect you, your family, and your home with great courage. Boxers love human companionship and are full of personality. The Boxer's smooth, short-haired coat is easy to groom. Brush with a firm bristle brush, and bathe only when necessary so as not to remove the natural oils from the skin. Boxers are very clean and groom themselves like cats. This is a wonderful breed and highly recommended for active families with children.
